DRG Servers Update
(Prior to the post, here is a shameless plug for a real server host!)
As ridiculously incompetent as “DRG Servers” is, I probably would have succumbed to my chronic lethargy and never got around to filing a complaint with the BBBOnline - except that I’m so angry and frustrated (and concerned) about my father right now that I felt the need to channel some aggression. So for those following along at home, below is the Better Business Bureau complaint filed against them, seeking the refund of our $25.00:

On May 9, 2006 I ordered a game server from ‘www.us.drgservers.com’ - this included payment of $25.00 (through ‘PayPal’), and was supposed to include access to a game server, a voice comm server, an FTP site, and a web control panel for all of the above.Though I was told within hours of placing my order that the voice server would be up and running ‘right off the bat’, that never materialized.
On May 11, 2006 I received what was supposed to be all necessary information regarding the above items - however, when I attempted to actually use that information, I discovered that not a single part of our package was functioning correctly - there was no game server, no accessible voice comm server, and no viable login for either the FTP site or the web control panel.
At this point began a long email exchange with an otherwise unnamed support contact, ‘drgserve@drgservers.com’. At no time were my issues resolved, despite numerous requests; customer service was zero. The emails I received from “customer support” were sloppily written and showed a profound lack of understanding of what our many problems even were, never mind actually rectifying them.
Simply put, the worst customer service I have ever encountered in over a decade of dealing with online businesses.

Again, as a warning to all gamers in the world, I strongly advise you - do NOT rent a server from “DRG Servers”. Their customer service is non-existent, their email exchanges look to be the work of middle-schoolers, and they will NOT honor the “money back guarantee” displayed so prominently on their home page.

just to let you ya,all know that Drgservers.com was fantastic for me they did everything mabye Mook you should have emailed the correct email witch is support@drgservers.com = Supportor sales@drgservers.com = Sales
There servers are fantastic and are the coolest company i have seen for game server hosting
Before you rabbit on i suggest that you should look at a company alittle more and i belive the company is Registered with the BBB corperation, and let alone that Lee and Michael and drgservers.com are registered with the United Corperation for Company Licences so if there was a major problem with there services then i think it would be dealt with.

“DeathBG” - you are clearly a front for DRG Servers (don’t bother denying, it just insults our intelligence - I mean, what? Were you surfing the net one day and just happened to ’stumble’ upon my site? AND you’re such a rabid fan of DRG that you figured you’d take the time to make two comments in their defense? Sheesh, give us a break.); on top of that, you as equally clearly have no idea what the hell you’re talking about.
However, as I’m such a good sport, allow me to respond (and in the future, should you feel the need to get schooled again and reply, please post to the Forums, it’s a much more elegant interface for long discussions).

My first question is, how do you know what email address I sent my emails to? I didn’t mention in my posts. Do you work for DRG Servers perhaps? Regardless, the email address is not the issue - the sophomoric and unprofessional replies I received are.

Registering with the BBB means absolutely nothing - the BBB is a purely voluntary oversight organization, they have no legal authority to do anything except be a neutral third party in consumer-business disputes. If DRG Servers is such a great proponent of the BBB, perhaps they should respond to the complaint the BBB forwarded to them and try to resolve this situation?

Neither I nor Google have any idea what that organization is. Wouldn’t make a difference anyway - see 2), above.

You should perhaps take your own advice, as nothing you’ve written evidences a single moment of thought. I am an extremely passive person, it’s not like I am prone to great flights of hysteria. I kept my patience with a ridiculously inept company for longer than most, I simply want a refund for money paid for non-existent services.

My guess is, they will do exactly what they have been doing - namely, not a damn thing. Is it really that difficult to refund $25?

Then obviously you DID NOT READ MY BLOG POSTING. In fact they were *supposed* to honor the remaining time of all Heretic Hosting customers - and yet they quite happily took our money when I sent it in error, and never mentioned it until I found out on my own what the arrangement had been. On top of that, even AFTER having this pointed out to them, they still kept the money.

All of what information? The only thing you mentioned was that we were hosted by Heretic Hosting before DRG Servers - which is clearly stated in the third paragraph of the blog post you yourself are commenting on. Way to use those internet research skills.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Know what I think is wrong? I think it’s wrong for a company to treat its customers so shabbily, I think it’s wrong for a company to refuse to refund money which they shouldn’t have received in the first place, I think it’s wrong for a company to send their little bitches to troll on websites where they aren’t very popular.
Bottom line is, DRG Servers is poison, I challenge anyone with an IQ over 70 and two functioning eyes to look over our email exchanges and not agree that DRG Servers is incompetent and dishonest. A fact which I and everyone else in our clan will continue to trumpet loudly to anyone who will listen. I know for a fact we’ve saved at least two other clans from making the mistake of signing up with DRG - hopefully there will be many more to come.

I have to say I totally agree with Mook, I’ve had nothing but problems with this “company” and also will not let any of my friends make the same mistake. You sir should try reading everything Mook and myself have posted in the forums before opening your mouth. In my opinion that makes you look like you dont have a clue about what your talking about. I wish I had found this website before I wasted my $$$ on this crappy server. Server never worked right. constantly stopped for no reason, even when no players were connected. FTP never worked. Support requests ignored.

wow DRG you suck…….. honestly now that i have seen this and heard about it from numerous other people i will NEVER get servers from these guys. If you want some great servers either get them from aim2game.com or nuclearfallout.net our public is on aim2game server and our private is a nuclearfallout server both are very good and i suggest you use them…… btw no im not reperisenting any companies.

ok let me start by saying i debated on posting for quite some time as i didnt want to sound like i was in drgs defense but ill throw out some facts that i know of personally
#1 death[heretic] shut his doors on his own customers…
#2 many of u know he is always in need to borrow money
#3 death had 3 costumers 2 of them only 1 or 2 months into a paid year contract and the 3rd was like a 3 month paid deal 3 days prior to him shutting the doors
#4 lee at drg paid death $450 for his client list..not heretic hosting
#5 death added some files in his clients server files(that he wanted back)to crash there servers..(leaving the guys out he didnt care about)
#6 every client he runs thru him to clanservers he makes 5% to do nuttin but sit at his pc and make u pay double the price you were paying
#7 death just busted for hacking in sof2

this is more my opinion but death himself is just a coder and hacker …and out of curiosity as far as the sites getting hacked ..were any of them hosted by death?..where he could frame drg? if not that just peels off a lil bit of the onion
ive known lee from drg for approx a year and ive known death about the same
niether of which seem like bad guys when there getting money from us but if an issue comes up over cash thats when u will see who they are
in gaming i know peeps are not keen on patience by any means but on the “good guy scale” i think lee wins by a little bit but again thats just me
along any lines of gameing hosting its really hard to find a good and of course cheap host so sometimes u need to weigh the differences and personally if it wasnt about the price i would toss them both out the window but since it does have to do alot on prices then we have gone with lee untill we find some other nutball hiding behind a pc to rent a good cheap server from
btw mook that does suck about yer 25 bux but atleast u werent paid up for a year like the 2 others that were raped in the ass ;)id much rather lose the 25 bux then the 3 hundred some odd dollars the other 2 walked away from
in total that i see death made around $1200 working everyone over….

I have no problem with you whatsoever - you were, in fact, the only person with a brain and desire to help I found in all my dealings from that time.
I try very hard to NOT delete forum posts or blog comments if I can help it. If something is an obvious commercial post (”Viagra now!”), or just a pointless string of insults, I boot it, but otherwise it’s pretty much fair game. Content stays, whether it agrees with my opinions or not - it’s just the stupid stuff I get rid of
Anyway, glad to see you’re still lurking around, even in the absence of any new blog for a while.

My DRG Servers story:
I am in a multigaming clan who we used to use MammothGames for our servers, however severe server lag and nonexistant support forced us to choose another provider. We chose DRG Servers. What a mistake. Two weeks later, I finally have my server with NO RCON PASSWORD OR FTP OR CONTROL PANEL INFORMATION! I have no way of administrating this server and have no idea when to get any of this information. But they did give me two weeks free because of the long set up time. Still, at least give me a RCON password! They didn’t even enable votemap so I can switch maps. This is entirely unacceptable. Now all of a sudden the server is down with no explanation whatsoever and no access to an unusable Control Panel. *sighs*.

After DRG our clan hopped over to ClanServers.com (now GameServers.com)…they are a little bit more expensive, but they have been FANTASTIC so far! Might want to check them out (fyi, the above link will give us affiliate points if you do actually sign up with them in the future).

DRG was good for the first month. I even got a phone call form them letting me know of a scheduled downtime but now that they are starting this new cpanel shit, its done nothing but go down hill. No email replies, no phone replies, not even a fuck you. I paid for 2 months in advance and after the 3-5 weeks of downtime, I decided to go to gameservers.com so I kindly asked for a refund and canceled my account. To this day, the account is still active but I have no access to my own game server, no access to the website that I created and no ftp access so go figure. I formally sent in a few complaints to paypal since I used them to pay with and they told me that after 10 days, I will get a refund and they will go after drg personally via some sort of civil suit. I am also going to post a few bad complaints against DRG in the BBB to make sure that everyone that does read them sort of things sees how they treat their customers. I just hope everyone learns from this bullshit. Good luck in your gaming and avoid DRG at all costs.

There’s really no point in responding to this drivel at length, I think the comment pretty much speaks for itself.

The only part that mystifies me (well okay, not really the only part) is how I am the one accused of being disrespectful of the opinions of others, when it is you and the other mouth-breathers who are clearly so … I’ve stated a number of times that I’m sure there are many folks whose opinion of DRG is fine. Wow, got to love the fanboys mook - DRG really “pwned” you there… bunch of twats they are… I really have to agree with you though that its a company run by pimply little 13yr olds.
You know - the ones that cheat on every game they play trying to demean how crap you are at games just because YOU’RE not hacking, anyways I digress.
I have dealt with many hosting company’s before.. and many I would use again for their speed and ease of use. However not too many offer hosting of a game that me and my friends play called Live For Speed , DRG did and so on saturday past we ordered 2 x 10 slot servers, teamspeak and webspace… It’s now tuesday and still no word that the order is being processed or that the server is ready for use. In fact apart from the original account registration email (before i bought a server!) I have recieved no email from DRG at all. This is the first time in all my experience of hosting companies that this level of non-service has ever occured.
Now the problem is this and I know DRG are still watching this because i’ll post it in their forums as well. They are as bound to UK and US legal rights as any real-life company, and if they are not careful with this level of service and lack of intelligence, they will find themselves in very hot water VERY soon.
Let’s not beat around the bush DRG, we’re not talking childish hacking attempts or name calling, we are talking about facts of you fraudulently taking money for services you do not provide.
This means in the UK going to Trading Standards and CAB and in the US to similar bodies or organisations.
Rest assured DRG, companies like yourselves will not last long.

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with DRG too, hopefully they were just really busy this past weekend and you’ll hear from them soon, with a stable server and no problems.
I know it happens, I’ve seen other clans say that DRG is okay for them - hopefully you’ll be one of them too!

I never bothered pursuing any sort of legal remedy to have our $25.00 returned - one always hopes that simply bringing it to the company’s attention will be enough, but in this case it certainly wasn’t, and would definitely cost far more to pursue than the money we deserve refunded. So DRG gets a pass on this one, other than ill will from the gamer community).

Unfortunately this is well beyond the 60-day PayPal refund window now, and at the time I was so focused on resolving with the company that I never thought to pursue with the mediating agent.

I to have had to wait a while for things to happen to my account/services to be setup. But i have found when i jump in their team speak i get what i need done within an hr. Their teamspeak is listed on their website.
But - You get what you pay for guys - SOMEWHAT - the actual servers i have received are fantastic. control panel is nice - but it does take a few days sometimes to get what i needed setup. Be patient - the prices your getting is the cheapest around - and there are only a few people running this business i suspect. But jumping in TS helps 100% of the time.

DRG SUCKS, PERIOD. Had them for less than a month. Server was down for half that time.. even when you’re in teamspeak. Lee will sit there and joke around with the other guys for an hour or 2.. then, he’ll say.. “Ohh.. John.. how can I help you? What was it you needed?” After I’ve asked the question about 10 - 20 times in between his conversation with him saying,”Okay, hold on, John.” And none of the staff seem like they can help. I ask a question.. “Ohh, Lee has to handle that.. I don’t have access.” Worse customer service ever. Avoid at all cost.

DRG is the worst company ever. I stupidly did the reseller package and had 3 servers on it. After just 3 days they are all deleted. I post a ticket and someone replies immediately and says “I’ll look into it”. This makes me think they must have great customer service. 5 days later and still no reply and I go onto Livechat and tell him the problem. He says he forgot about it and that he will update the tickets that very same day. Its been a week now and still no reply.

Well, I finally found this page again after a LONG absence only to find that others have tried DRG. Im glad to say that PayPal DID come through for my refund but Im hurt that others have found DRG. I just hope they can get a fast refund from paypal also. DRG hasnt changed one bit. They still steal money from their clients. They still promise a server up in 24-48 hours and they still offer the lowest prices in gaming BUT, its NOT worth the headache that you will receive for your money that you pay. Your best bet is to go to gameservers.com and rent a server. They are a little higher priced BUT, well worth the money. Anyhow, good luck to everyone and I hope you read this BEFORE you decide to rent from DRG.

Well i wish i had seen this post a month ago, We have been hosted with DRG for a few months now, yes there was the more than ocassional downtime, which was put down to HDD failure, once i excepted but then severeal times after that it was getting quite ridiculous, i dont like to say it but lee (when online) was helpful in his own little way, inbetween playing his anonoying tunes on that stupid piano of his, i only wish that we had only lost a game server from it all, we had 2 dedicated servers with DRG and since they have recently liquidated we have not only lost the servers and most likely our $700 that we are owed by them we have lost all of our websites and we are now left with very pissed off customers who in their own right will be making a lot of chargebacks against us, so we have now paid out another fortune to etup hosting with softlayer, it’s taking some time to set everything back up again but the damage is already done now, i only hope that paypal will sway in our favour with the disputes, I am getting a credit check performed on mr benson and will shortly after be making a claim in the small claims court against him, According to Lee when i spoke to him on msn yesterday morning he said that his partner in the US (which i thought was his brother, funny how he said it was a woman) had closed down the suite and has run off with all the money, im mixed minded of what is true with them anymore because if he had really screwed everyone over himself then why would he show up on MSN where he knows he will get harrased. but it didn’t take him long to soon vanish from my buddy list.
My Advice would of been to stay well clear of DRGServers.com but i dont think anyone has to worry about it anymore as they have hopefully been dissolved into nothingness. if only i had moved to softlayer a week ago when my group has first talked about it.

well just a quick update, DRG are back online but not at their old datacenter, it would appear that Lee or michael are hosting it them selves, a quick dns lookup on drgservers.com locates it to 91.186.1.120 which funnily enough is pointing to the fact that they are trying to start everything from scratch under a new name of INFOMARTHOSTING.COM, just a quick heads up really to inform everyone of the dodgy dealings going on with these 2 shady characters

Beyond the blog and the forums, the site contains hundreds of pages dedicated to the games Soldier of Fortune, World of Warcraft, GURPS, and Fudge, not a single one of which has anything to do with
DRG. At all.
Yes, clearly, this site is dedicated to the destruction of DRG.

Okay, I am a bit calmer now than I was last night. I did mention that you caught me at a bad time, it is possible I went just a teeny, tiny bit overboard.
First off - I wasn’t aware that English is your second language, so for picking on your spelling and grammar I apologize. In fact, kudos to you on being able to converse with us at all - Americans generally don’t bother trying to bridge the language barrier, we just assume everyone will come to us.
As for the substance of your message, it sounds like basically what you’re saying is “Chill out, don’t spend so much energy on negativity.”
Normally this is a philosophy I embrace - I’m actually one of the most chill, laid-back folks I know. But DRG *really* got under my skin with how ludicrously long they’ve dragged this thing out, all the lies, all the incompetence, it just sickens me.
Having said that - it isn’t like I spend 24 hours a day just sitting in a room thinking bad things about DRG. I’d say most weeks and months pass by quietly and I never even think of the whole thing, until someone mentions something fresh. Then I get pissed off again, vent a little more, and go back to my life.
So - thank you for your advice to not let DRG bother me so much, but I think you *greatly* overestimated their impact on me. As I pointed out, the DRG parts of this website are tiny, certainly less than some percent of a percent - it barely registers in the grand scheme of things.
Clearly they’ve wronged you as well, sorry to hear that - but I’m glad you haven’t let ‘em get to you. Stay happy - just don’t tell me I have to be happy too.

WOW DRG servers did me dirty i have hosted around 12 websites with them with around 1 million visitors monthly. About 4 months ago all sites crashed and went offline for 1 week. I have called UK i have emailed many times and no reply.
Then everything went well so i was like w.e maybe one time thing as i was told.
Then DNS problems started my server in one week went from PR 4 to PR0.
Google removed me from postition 1 page 1 i was in shock. I still stayed cause so many sites to move was just 2 much.
This gets even better around 3 weeks ago everything goes offline again i don’t seep nights looking for Lee or anyone else to fix my sites.
One week passed i found lee and he put sites back online. Guess what? next day they all crashed, i was removed from google again all 12 websites.
No i had to buy a new server while i already payed for this one and only had the time to back up one site, other 11 sites are gone with no back up and DRG servers is parked free,
This cost me thousands of dollars because all the work i did in past 6 months users etc is all gone.
DRG BURN IN HELL.

I was a friend of lee for 6 years and he did that to me, so im not surprised about regular costumers.
You need to hear this, i finally by staring at his site for one week, i saw live support go online. I sent a message saying sites are offline, here is her reply ” we will fix this problem ASAP good bye” and she signed me off hahaha can you belive this?
Just droping a costumer like that? 24/7 support morelike 24 days 1 minute support.

Oxide. Who are you trying to kid? DRGServers only charges $25 but look at it on a large scale. If they do that to 10 people, only 10, that is $250USD they are gaining. Now lets think much more realistic, if he has over 200 people on account, at $25 a piece, that is well OVER $5000USD. If we can stop just one person from using his service, then we stop Lee from gaining any more hard earned money from honest people. Also if you call this making a living, then maybe I should try it but then I would lower myself to the same level as Lee and that level is THEFT, FRAUD and possibly EXTORTION. As for him changing business name, good luck with that. The new name will get trashed soon enough by very pissed off customers and then guess what, a NEW HATE site will be created and maybe I will host this one on my PERSONAL box for all to see. Anyhow, if anyone reads this before you buy from DRG or what ever name hes using now, DONT DO IT. Save your money and use Gameservers.com … much more reliable and easier to get in contact with IF a problem ever arises.

Hey. not if you noticed but DRG went down on the 8th October 2007. There has been a lot of debate as the services paid for have not been refunded. I have both of there last known address and a lot of people are prosecuting them and sueing them.

Dont feel bad Mook, after DRGs little disappearing act, hundreds have lost money. We alone had 2 dedicated boxes, a TS reseller, Vent reseller, and a bunch of other crap, and we were makin some good loot. Now its all about the refunds and hope that we still have enuff to grab atleast one dedicated at the end of this. Our lawyer is processing the paper work presently to sue both Lee and Michael and then DRG as a company.They have not claimed bankruptcy, and they stopped paying for services 3 months ago, so its only obvious that they had this planned. We would also like to know from others how this turns out.

well we are now hosted with softlayer and have no problems, they truly are a professional hosting company, we had submitted some paypal disputes and waited the full 2 weeks plus a few days before we got a decision from them. they had actually sided with us for all of thedisputes but because the funds where not there to retrieve (shocking i know) they couldn’t refund us.
they tried re-assuring us by saying if they account had any funds come in then they would send it right to us. but i’m not holding out any hopes what so ever, we have since forgotten about DRG altogether and have moved on with our new hosts and have made more than our mony back so all is good, i hope that everyone has been able to recover from the disaster that was caused to them by Lee and Michael.

Well sorry it took a while to reply but, yes Mook, people have been trying to sue them especially in the Netherlands where they take their gaming very seriously indeed. I keep in touch with everyone through the means of MSN, and Xfire etc.
I have also been told of a hosting company that used to use DRG Servers for their servers and for some reason although all of DRG Servers services are down, the hosting company i was told about seems to be running strong. And i know for a fact the company in question was being helped by Lee.

Well, you remember the significant low prices like £1 a slot. Well check out directclanhosting.com. Uses same order program uses old panels with the same licences that DRG used, strange hey!!!!
Although Lee & Micheals name is not featured on the about page, i do know for a fact that directclanhosting.com used Lee for thier servers and they are still up?

Woh woh, I’m Joshua Nailor the owner of DirectClanHosting.com. I have been for many years now.
Yes i did know Lee and DRGServers and i did have a few U.S Machines with them. I left a few months before they went down. Lee and the other staff at DRGSevrers have NOTHING to do with DirectClanHosting. We have been up and running and Lee hasn’t joined us or moved anything over.
So i would like to clear things up here. DirectClanHosting have never been owned by DRGServers or Lee the owner.
I do know him yes and i have spoken to him a lot. But he has nothing to do with me.

I haven’t spoken to Lee for months now. I don’t know what hes doing. And he was never involved in DirectClanHosting. The only time he was was when i was a customer of DRG Servers and i had machines in the U.S with him.
He hasn’t been on msn, Althoguht i have his phone number and i could ring him i also know where he lives in the UK.

Those images from the data center were from drg since I was a reseller for a time. when they skipped town i was ripped off the money i just paid them, the money they got from me from glitching modernbill and the money it cost me to refund people.
