Another week, another treasure hoard of posts from across the wide world of GURPS blogs.<\/p>\n<p>I should be receiving my package of the <strong>Dungeon Fantasy RPG<\/strong> boxed set this week, but today I&#8217;m throwing <strong>GURPS<\/strong> some love. As mentioned in my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themook.net\/gamegeekery\/house-stark-post-con-wrap-up\/\">post-con wrap-up<\/a> for Gateway 2017, I wanted to make my handouts for new GURPS players even more streamlined and user-friendly &#8212; here is what I came up with:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themook.net\/gamegeekery\/?ddownload=4221\" title=\"Player Handout\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"ddownload-link id-4221 ext-pdf\">Player Handout<\/a><\/strong> | <strong>Downloads:\u00a0<\/strong>10,106<\/p>\n<p>Like many materials I post here, this is something I put together for my own games before sharing with gamers far and wide. Because of that, some things to note:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Not all maneuvers\/options are included.\u00a0Specifically, &#8220;All-Out Attack (Feint),&#8221;\u00a0&#8220;All-Out Attack (Long),&#8221; &#8220;Committed Attack,&#8221; &#8220;Defensive Attack,&#8221; &#8220;Feint,&#8221; and some of the more esoteric options like &#8220;Tip Slash,&#8221; &#8220;Riposte,&#8221; etc. are not listed because few (if any) players ever used them. Trying to streamline!<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;m hoping the new format makes it much clearer which options can be used with which maneuvers. I think the previous lack of clarity made a lot of new players hesitant to try out different options because they weren&#8217;t sure what they could do and when they could do it.<\/li>\n<li>I vacillated about keeping both &#8220;Dual-Weapon Attack&#8221; and &#8220;Rapid Strike,&#8221; but ultimately decided they are just different enough to warrant including both.<\/li>\n<li>For the Slam rules, I used the streamlined variation from the DFRPG boxed set in place of those in the Basic Set.<\/li>\n<li>The footnote symbols (<strong>\u2020<\/strong> for Flurry of Blows, Mighty Blows, and Heroic Charge, <strong>\u2021<\/strong> for Rapid Recovery and Feverish Defense) don&#8217;t point to actual footnotes; they are there as reminders that you can only choose one offensive and one defensive option per turn.<\/li>\n<li>The levels of HP\/FP loss include only descriptions, not mechanics, as this is a sheet geared toward players, and new ones at that. GMs may find this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themook.net\/gamegeekery\/?ddownload=4110\">Simplified GM Screen<\/a> helpful (which I may update at some point to more closely mirror the format of the player&#8217;s handout).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This handout fills three page-sides, with the fourth probably being a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themook.net\/gamegeekery\/?ddownload=874\">streamlined copy of their character<\/a>. That&#8217;s a lot of info packed on just two pages!<\/p>\n<p>Thoughts, suggestions, and especially corrections if you find any errors most welcome.<\/p>\n<h3>Bits and Bobs<\/h3>\n<div class=\"_2TO-components-SimpleRichTextEditor--paragraphElement\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"daqju\" data-offset-key=\"98o7l-0-0\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"98o7l-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"98o7l-0-0\">My &#8220;Dungeon Fantasy RPG&#8221; boxed set came today. I only had a few moments to delve, but it is gorgeous. Everything is top-notch quality, the books are &#8216;heavy&#8217; and well-made (full color, glossy pages &#8212; it&#8217;s like the launch of 4th Edition again!)&#8230; a total delight that surpassed expectations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-offset-key=\"98o7l-0-0\">In the week that the form-fillable DFRPG character sheet has been available, it&#8217;s already had almost 700 downloads! So, by next week I hope to have a form fillable version of the Monsters, Traps, and Diseases\/Poisons cards from the back of the &#8220;Monsters&#8221; book available as well.<\/li>\n<li data-offset-key=\"98o7l-0-0\">As hard as it is to believe&#8230; the unofficial <a href=\"http:\/\/discord.gg\/89yqtsx\">GURPS Discord Server<\/a> celebrates its one-year anniversary tomorrow, with just over 800 registered members (though obviously not all of them remain active). \u00a0If you haven&#8217;t yet, drop in and give it a try&#8230; there&#8217;s frequent discussion about GURPS, house rules, world building, other RPGs and games, apps, GMs looking for players and vice-versa, and more!
