 MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
Quick announcement for MookUI users regarding WoW Patch 3.0 (scheduled for release on Tuesday Oct. 14th) ... The 3.0 patch is going to be a big one, with dozens and dozens of changes being introduced, both great and small. This is going to have an enormous impact on AddOns in general, and the MookUI collection specifically, as authors work to bring their AddOns in line with the patch changes. MookUI uses quite a few older AddOns that have continued to work just fine without being updated for a very long time - that will likely come to an end with Patch 3.0. My intention (at least for the moment) is to use this patch as an opportunity to completely redo the MookUI from scratch - the look of the UI will probably remain fairly similar, but many of the underlying AddOns will be new and/or updated to their newest versions. Unfortunately I will be out of town until the Sunday following the release of Patch 3.0, and even once I return I'm guessing it will take quite a bit of work to get things done the way I want them. So, MookUI may be not be in any usable shape for a week or two following the patch. As a side note, I see that Curse no longer accepts submissions of compilations, so once the new MookUI is ready for release it will only be available here at the home site and from WoWInterface. Of course the most current info can always be found at the MookUI Homepage. I appreciate all the great feedback I've received from so many MookUI users over the years - keep checking back for details on when the compilation will again be ready for use!

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
Hiya Feiralyse. I've had my UI tweaked around and working pretty well for a couple days - I'm not sure I'm going to continue zipping up everything and posting, I may just take a few screenshots and list the AddOns I'm using to get it to look that way. More of a "do it yourself" approach. Along those lines, here's a quick screenshot and the list of AddOns I'm using - 95% of them can be found at Curse, the other 5% at WoW Interface. Happy to help if you have any questions at all! Attachment:

If SimpleMinimap is installed, you should be able to Right-click anywhere on the minimap, then go to "Skin --> Skins -->" and choose either "2. Square", "3. Thin Square (dark)" (this is the one I'm using in the screenie), or "4. Thin Square (light)". Let me know if that doesn't work.

Not at all man - there are a LOT of options spread out across a few dozen AddOns, it can definitely be tough trying to ferret out a single option. Besides - that's what I'm here for.

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
I would recommend not doing a 3.0 package post, but definately do just one more for the expac release... i just spent like 4 hours yesterday redoing mine. Manually updating all the mods and all that jazz. Sucks that none of them kept their settings.
Do we still have access to a mod that puts a grid on the screen so we can better organize bars and such?

It's called Align, it's one of the few not on Curse: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/i ... Align.htmlI think you're probably right, with the Wrath of the Lich King release soooo close (yay!), makes more sense to wait until after it's out before packing up a new MookUI. Looking forward to it.

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
Here is my current UI. its going to get redone using align and a few other changes but not till after i find out what will still work with the expac. and then probably modded after you release a package too. Please no comments about the quartz bars over my pitbull bars, they didnt show up till i took the screenie (well at least i didnt notice them) but they have since been moved... Its not showing. but i get this teeny tiny (i play on 1440x900 with the ui scale maxed down) WITTY BITTY like 4 pixel high bar that scroll pretty quick. Only when im targeting a guy but not always in combat (still shows when they are dead) wtf is it?? On the top center just above my cast bar, i have a small collection of buff timers. But as far as i know i dont have any buff mods installed. My mod package is a slimmed list of your old one you made for me, but i took things out not added them in. And they weren't present before the last big patch... Also something is hiding all the pvp timers like capping in hellfire... Thoughts overall? Suggestions?

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
Hiya Feiralyse! I'll do my best to clear some of this up. Feiralyse wrote: Its not showing. but i get this teeny tiny (i play on 1440x900 with the ui scale maxed down) WITTY BITTY like 4 pixel high bar that scroll pretty quick. Only when im targeting a guy but not always in combat (still shows when they are dead) wtf is it?? This one I'm sure on ... it's the Quartz "swing" timer. Type "/quartz", go to 'Swing Timer', and uncheck the Enable checkbox, should get rid of it (or disable "Quartz_Swing" from the AddOns screen, or just completely delete the "Quartz_Swing" folder from your AddOns folder). Feiralyse wrote: On the top center just above my cast bar, i have a small collection of buff timers. But as far as i know i dont have any buff mods installed. Not knowing specifically which AddOns you're currently using, my first guess for that is Elkano's Buff Bars (/ebb), or ClassTimer (/classtimer). Fiddling around with one of those should make those go away. Feiralyse wrote: Also something is hiding all the pvp timers like capping in hellfire... This one I'm not completely sure on. My first suggestions would be SimpleMinimap, try right-clicking the minimap and choosing 'unlock' ... a bunch of small grey rectangle should show up ... see if one of them is 'PvP Timers' (or something like that, don't remember the exact wording). You may need to move your minimap up to the center of the screen first, the PvP timers might be anchored to the bottom of the minimap (so they'd be off-screen with your minimap at the bottom). Feiralyse wrote: Thoughts overall? Suggestions? Everything looks fine - the only thoughts/suggestions I might have all boil down to personal preference really. The only thing I notice is the "two pages" icon in the upper left corner of your chat window ... I tried to get rid of that forever before I realized it was the 'CopyChat' module of Prat. Let me know how things go, hopefully this helps!

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
Ah, sorry - could I get a list of the AddOns you're running? I can't think of any other bar timers in MookUI except EBB and ClassTimer, maybe if I can see which AddOns you're actually using I can spot the culprit.

Mook,
I just discovered your site last night while researching various setups for the N52. The N52 stuff is great but I am also very interested in the UI. Are you or arent you going to release a compilation for the WOTLK expansion? I really like the look of the UIs, keep up the good work.

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
Hiya Prowlerslim, welcome to the site! I believe I will be releasing an updated MookUI in the next week or two - I've been pretty busy just playing and enjoying the new stuff, but I'll try to get something zipped up and posted soon. The most time-consuming part is actually updating the online ReadMe.

Mook,
Actually the readme is what I am really interested in. The addons I can download myself. But I like to see what exactly you do to make such a clean clutter free interface. Looking forward to the next offering, keep up the great work

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
Thanks for saying so. Yeah, I pretty much "started fresh" with WotLK, though I have by this point re-added the core of what I had before. So that means pretty much a complete overhaul of the ReadMe - updated table, updated screenies, updated walkthrough, updated links (especially now that Ace is more or less moved to Curse). Tired just thinking about it lol. But it is something I'd like to do, it's a question of "when" not "if".

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
#1 - How do I resize the bars of fubar? Height is a scroll bar, cake. Width, however defaults to the entire width of the screen when the bar is created and i cant find a way to shrink it down. (FuBar 3.5) #2 - I don't know the name of the mod, but it lets you open as many links as you want from items in chat log... i can get a true blizzard tooltip by holding alt. It used to be the other way around. You could only get one UNLESS you held alt for extras. I would like to get it back to post patch functionality if i could. Help? #3 - Can i lock pitbull? so tired of grabbing one by mistake... Thanks mook.

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
Damn, sorry Feiralyse, for some reason I missed this post when checking 'New Posts', I only happened to notice it because I was looking at the thread directly. Anyway, let's see if we can fix ya up. Feiralyse wrote: #1 - How do I resize the bars of fubar? Height is a scroll bar, cake. Width, however defaults to the entire width of the screen when the bar is created and i cant find a way to shrink it down. (FuBar 3.5) If the FuBar is 'unlocked' (right-click the FuBar, make sure 'Lock Panel' is unchecked), the cursor should change to a sword icon if you put it at the very far right- or left-end of the bar, then just left-click and drag the bar longer or shorter. That AddOn is called (appropriately enough ) Links - if you "/links", there's a checkbox for "Invert alt-clic", I think that's what you're after? Feiralyse wrote: #3 - Can i lock pitbull? so tired of grabbing one by mistake... Sure can! Type "/pitbull", then on the 'Global Settings' section check the 'Locked' checkbox. Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
Just a quick note so y'all don't think I forgot about MookUI. Progress has been very slow - I'm leveling multiple characters, have a couple of other projects I'm working on off-line, plus the usual holiday chaos going on. But MookUI hasn't been forgotten, it is still on my list.

Re: MookUI and WoW Patch 3.0
You're a good man Feiralyse (or Orc, or Dwarf, or whatever), I appreciate the reminders. Here's my current quandary - the next patch, 3.1.0, is going to be extremely disruptive to a lot of AddOns. Anything to do with Action Bars, Gear Swapping, and Talents is going to need an update, and that's just for a single change the patch is bringing (dual specs). I think I might just wait till 3.1.0 is out and the dust has settled.
